The central room or "cella" of the temple probably contained a large statue of Isis, which may have been taken away by the priests at the time of the volcanic eruption. Such statues were a usual part of Isis worship. They were carried in processions and revealed to the worshipers during morning services. Many contemporary Isis statues were hung with jewelry and diadems donated by the worshipers.
