At the rear of the temple compound was a large room with elaborate
murals on the walls. It may have been used for ceremonial banquets,
since the early excavation records mention that a large table was
found in it. However, its exact use is unclear. Perhaps, like many of
the spaces in Roman buildings, it was multi-purpose--used at various
times for large meetings, ceremonial meals, and the nighttime
initiation ceremonies for which the cult of Isis was famous.
